ABOUT WELL COTTAGE
INSIDE:
Tucked away behind its own barn is Well Cottage, ‘La Maison du Puits’. The impressive living room has an enormous fireplace dated 1678. The cottage has had a recent make-over to add a sunroom off a re-modelled kitchen and a downstairs shower room WC. Well Cottage sleeps 5. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms (a double & triple) and a bathroom & WC.
OUTSIDE:
The private garden has off-road parking next to the barn, a lawn and patio around the old well (securely covered). When the days are hot and evenings are cool there’s also a raised, covered deck looking over the property. Use of childrens’ play area and 9m x 4m pool in location away from the gite.
ACCESSIBILITY:
Well Cottage is not accessible by wheelchair.
Wonderful gite – happy times had by all! We’ve come back to L’Age but stayed at La Maison du Puits this time instead of next door. We’ve loved it just as much! Thanks for the well stocked library.
We fell in love with Well Cottage
We all love the pool and were in it nearly all the time in our first week. We also enjoyed the two lakes we went to.
Thanks to Diana & Derek for everything, especially access to their DVD library which saw us through the rainy days and evenings beside a roaring log fire.
All in all a great week in a super base. Thank you all.
La Maison du Puits is lovely and really well equipped. I hadn’t realised how beautiful this area was.
ABOUT L’AGE
L’Age is a hamlet in the area named Le Pays des Feuillardiers (country of the woodcutters). At the turn of the last century there was intensive management of the sweet chestnut copices which are still evident and home to a lot of wildlife. The land is undulating and pretty, dotted with small lakes. There are excellent way-marked paths for walkers. The cities of Limoges, Angoulême and Périgueux are within an hour’s drive.
ACTIVITIES
Rambling, Bird watching, Mountain biking, fishing, golf, go-karting, bowling, swimming, tennis, tree adventure parks, Velo-rail, canoeing, Chateaux (Richard Lion Heart route), Gallo-roman churches, Roman baths.
FURTHER DETAILS
There is a shared swimming pool positioned well away from the gite so there is no disturbance for non-pool users. From the well exposed, redwood cedar deck of the pool there is a long view over a pond, valley and fields where Limousin cattle graze.
All bed linen and towels are provided.
We, the owners are resident on site, separated from the gite by a detached stone barn. Please contact us for information on a winter let.
